An ideal choice for gates/external doors if you are located in a coastal area where the salty air will soon corrode other types of metal finishes, the marine grade stainless steel is exceptionally corrision resistant.
Also recommended for use on timbers such as Oak, Western Red Cedar, Iroko etc which have a high tannic acid content which in turn can attack any non-ferrous ironmongery attached to the timber which corrodes the ironwork and can stain the a nasty blue/black colour.
Also recommended for use on Accoya due to the acetic acid present, due to the modification of the timber.
Being cranked the hinges allow for the gates or doors to be fitted flush to the posts or frame they are fitted to – unlike straight band and gudgeon hinges where the gate/door would end up protruding past the posts. All our stainless steel cranked band and gudgeon hinges are heavy duty hinges.
Also known as hook & band, hook & pin hinges as well as hook and ride, the hinge length to be used depends on the application, 1/3 the width (or next hinge size up) of the gate or door for a normal domestic installation, with the hinge length being 1/2 the door or gate width (or nearest hinge size up) for industrial use of heavy duty domestic use.
