Idigbo shortage continues to bite

Idigbo shortage continues to bite

Idigbo shortages continue to bite in the UK, despite the lifting of EU sanctions against the country of origin – The Ivory Coast. Despite the sanctions coming into force earlier this year, we’ve managed to continue manufacturing our products in Idigbo by running down our stock, which is now all but exhausted.

All remaining sanctions were lifted on June 27th 2011, and at present, our timber suppliers are expecting some sort of Idigbo shipment in later this month, but they are also expecting high demand and prices may well increase as a result of this. We will continue to price all of our products in Idigbo upon request, but we will be unable to guarantee the prices of anything in Idigbo for our usual thirty day period.

Why EU sanctions?

Sanctions were imposed by the EU in April of this year due to the civil war that started after former President Laurent Gbagbo refused to step down after losing the country’s 2010 Presidental election to former Prime Minister Alassan Ouattara. Gbagbo was captured by UN forces in April this year and hopefully with his capture, the country can return to some kind of stability.
