Wooden gates suitable for automation

We have supplied our wooden gates regularly to gate automation installers both locally and around the country for several years. All our gates are available to suit both below ground and above ground automation. For above ground automation the gates just require double bracing (forming an 'X' on the rear of each gate - see picture below). For below ground automation as well as being double braced the gates require a full thickness solid bottom rail (EX 6" / 150mm wide) which the boards are also jointed into.

Pictured right is a pair of our Beaumaris wooden driveway gates (in Idigbo, hardwood) showing the extra bracing that we fit if you intend to automate your gates with an above ground gate automation system. As with all of our gates the bracing is jointed into the rails of the gates.

Wooden gates below ground automation

For below ground automation then a solid full thickness bottom rail is required.
Pictured right is a pair of Caernarfon wooden gates (in Meranti, Hardwood) suitable for a below ground automation system. The bottom rail of the gates is an EX 6" / 150mm wide rail, with the boards jointed into the bottom rail.

Why a solid bottom rail?

If using a below ground automation kit, then when your gates are opening and closing the full force of the automation equipment will be operating on the bottom of the gates. With a solid bottom rail the force of the automation is spread throughout this bottom rail ensuring a longer life for your gates and peace of mind for yourself.

Please note: We do not supply gate or garage door automation kits as we feel a DIY automation kit/installation is no substitute for a professionally fitted system from a manufacturer approved installer.
