After doing wide research, I decided on these adjustable hook and band hinges from Gate Expectations. The speed of delivery and the quality of the product has fully justified my decision. The information provided regarding sizing and product dimensions, including the fittings, was very helpful. The 32mm screws supplied are very good for holding in wooden structures, however I opted to use deeper and stronger anchor bolts to fix the hook-on plate to an old concrete substrate. Overall, I am very pleased with the well-informed choice of these gate hinges, from a wide range available, and the first-rate information and delivery service provided by Gate Expectations; now my first choice supplier and thereby highly recommended.
The hinges are superb quality. Really heavy duty and easy to fit. Especially impressed with the self tapping screws which went into my metal posts really tight! Would definitely recommend this product and indeed the company itself!

I made the unfortunate mistake of “miss-reading” the dimensions of the product I ordered. When I unpacked the (promptly delivered) package I realized the mistake and contacted Gate Expectations. The return was efficiently organized and the refund was in my account within 48 hrs. I did however check out the quality of the product (gate drop bolts) before returning them and saw that the quality was excellent. A great company to deal with, and a top quality product.

I ordered a pair of Cranked Band 'T' hinges. The hinges are exactly what I'd hoped for and I'm very pleased. The package did not get delivered to my house due to problems with the DPD Local courier lying about trying to deliver and instead taking the easy option to drop the package at the local collection point. I asked Gate Expectations for my delivery charge to be refunded as I'd had to drive out to a collection point to find my package. Gate Expectations couldn't have been more helpful and duly refunded the delivery charge without difficulty. The delivery problem was nothing to do with Gate Expectations but they have taken the hit by refunding me. I hope they can get their money back from DPD.
The previous latch I received from a local timber merchant was very roughly made, the handle had sharp pieces on it and the receiver not even shaped properly.
This one is much better. I'll probably still give the handles a rub over to make them really smooth but overall it looks good, everything is the right shape and it's working as it should.

Generations of craftsmanship
We take make your gates to the size required?
Our methods are tried and trusted over three generations of craftsmen, who were all skilled carpenters and joiners, and we still use some of those original techniques in our work today. Why? Because they give a better, longer lasting, higher quality result then you get from many mass-produced, off the shelf products.
Every item we make is carefully measured to ensure it’s the perfect fit, and made from strong, solid wood which won’t twist or warp over time. Our doors are secured using mortice and tenon joints which are fixed using wedges and glue. It’s old school, but it works, and it really is the best.
From gates to garage doors, everything we produce is handmade with the same level of care and attention, whether it’s a made to measure product or a bespoke commission. If you’ve got something more specific in mind, then please share your ideas with us. We’re always up for a challenge, and we’d like to think that if you can sketch it, we can make it. But we’re also open and honest with our customers, so if it just can’t be done then we’ll also be up front and tell you that.
We deliver to the UK mainland and offshore, so if you’re not local to Wales that’s not a problem.
