Also known as hook and band and hook and ride hinges, the cranked band and gudgeon hinges are a two part hinge comprising of the hinge plate or hook which fits to the gate post or frame and a band or strap that fits to the gates/doors.
The hook simply sits within the end of the strap hinge.
The hook and band hinges are quite simple to fit, afixing to the gates with a combination of screws and one bolt.
Main downside to the cranked band and gudgeon hinges is that you cannot adjust them easily after hanging your gates and your gates can be lifted off their hinges, unless the top hinge pin is fitted upside down. Consider adjustable hinges if opting for a DIY install especially on gates as you’ll make your task a lot easier!
Our cranked band and gudgeon hinges are available in powder coated black, hot spelter galvanised, black on galvanised and marine grade stainless steel.

Both the Black on Galvanised and Stainless Steel cranked band and gudgeon hinges come supplied with fixings as standard.
The black or Galvanised options are available with fixings (screws and bolts) as an optional extra.
Length of band and gudgeon hinges are determined by width of each gate and not weight (no gate hinges are tested for weight).
For normal domestic use choose a hinge that is 1/3rd the width of each gate (i.e. 900mm/36″ wide gate then choose a hinges at least 300mm / 12 inch long)
For heavy duty domestic use or industrial use then choose a hinge half the width of each gate (i.e. 1200mm/4ft wide gate then choose a hinge at least 600mm / 24 inch long).
If unsure then go for the next size hinge up.

All orders received prior to 12pm on the day are despatched the same day using DPD for a fully tracked delivery.

Once despatched your will receive an email and text (if we have a mobile telephone number for you) from DPD confirming that they have your parcel.
On the day of delivery you’ll again receive an email/text from DPD with an approx 1 hour time slot from DPD. If you are not able to be present to receive your parcel you can then rearrange delivery for an alternate day or get the parcel delivered to the nearest DPD pickup shop for you to collect at your convenience.

We’re a small family run company, who come from a long line of carpenters and joiners, you could say it’s in our blood.
Based in Rhyl, on the beautiful North Wales coast we produce made to measure wooden gates, side hung wooden garage doors and general joinery items. We began making our own range of gates and garage doors back in 1989, but our business is based on decades of carpentry and joinery expertise that stretches back over three generations. Our work today is still based on the teaching, techniques and craftsmanship of our forefathers.
