Used as an alternative to the Bow Handle Bolt, the Monkey tail bolt usually fixes to the top of a pair of garage doors to secure the door closed to the door lintel/frame head.
Being a spring loaded bolt you don’t have to worry about the bolt dropping once you’ve secured the doors closed and for this reason it makes more sense to use it at the top of the door in place of a dropbolt which is sometimes used.
The monkey tail bolt is so called as it has a long monkey like tail for a handle, this also makes it less obtrusive than a bow handle bolt which ends in a large ‘D’ shaped handle.
Available in a hardwearing Galvanised finish or powder coated black and supplied with two receivers – a flat plate receiver and staple receiver to cover every eventuality.
Staple receiver would usually be fitted to the side of the lintel/frame head whilst the flat plate receiver would fit on the underside of the lintel/frame head. Both simply screw on but the flat plate receiver would need a hole cutting out within the centre to enable the bolt to pass through.
