We’re now Accoya approved joinery manufacturers
If you’ve visited our website recently, you may well have noticed that we added Accoya to the timbers that we use. Not only that, but we’ve recently undergone training from those nice people at Accsys Technologies (the brains behind Accoya) and are pleased to announce that we are now certified (not that kind of certified!) users of Accoya modified softwood.
Accoya modified Softwood
What’s Accoya you may be asking? It’s basically a very sustainable timber that is treated with acetic acid to make an already fast-growing, sustainable timber that lasts for years and years and years and years and years (it’s extremely durable – you get the picture!)
Pah! It’s softwood, it cannot be that good, can it? Well, if you class not very good as being guaranteed for 50 years above ground (25 years when used in the ground), then no, not really!
Ahoy there, erm, Joiners!
I said Accoya! Durability wise, it’s rated as Class 1 and it’s more durable than any other timber around (including Teak etc). Stability-wise, shrinkage and swelling, which occurs with the natural movement of timber, is reduced by over 75%. The lifespan of any paints or stains that you apply to it are also greatly increased, which means you’ll spend less time maintaining your timber products if you opt for Accoya, giving you more time to enjoy the great British summertime (whenever the next one actually appears!).
So what else is so good about it?
- It’s virtually rot proof.
- Accoya is indigestible to insects and thus more resistant to decay.
- It’s non-toxic and 100% recyclable.
So far, with what I’ve seen of it, I have to say I am impressed; best of all, it does actually grow on trees! You could always stick to your tanalised softwood if you really want (no, I didn’t think so either!).
You can read more on Accoya in our very cleverly titled Accoya gates and garage door section on our main website.
We’ve even got a nice certificate to put somewhere!
So not only do we get a nice new shiny certificate, we’re also able to plaster the Accoya approved joinery manufacturer’s logo (in the sidebar on the right!) in every conceivable spot on our website (well, if you’ve got it, flaunt it as they say!).
So what are you waiting for? Get your Accoya gates and garage doors today; with the durability of Accoya, coupled with our following of the best joinery practices, it’s a match made in heaven!
