We have a list of schools, more our welcome to sign up – what we are really in need of now is for other North Wales woodworkers to sign up.Calling North Wales woodworkers – Schools need your help
Currently there is a shortage of trained Joiners, Carpenters and Cabinet Makers. There is also budget shortages at schools towards things like a supply of timber. You could helping the next generation of apprentice woodworkers get their first taste of working with timber and clearing a bit of space in your workshop at the same time! You’ll also reduce the amount of timber going to landfill – so your being more environmentally friendly! It doesn’t have to be much, a couple of schools we’ve spoken to would be more than happy to take a normal household sized bin of boarding – this will keep them going for months. It doesn’t have to be large pieces of timber, to give you an indication of the type of things schools make Denbigh high school have kindly sent us some pictures of what they’ve recently made – you can see them here Interested? Then we can put you in touch with schools that have contacted us requesting timber –You can sign up to donate your unwanted offcuts hereSign up for free wood now!

How does it work?
We regularly have offcuts of the timber we use in our workshops, the majority of the time these are stacked in a pile for future use – however we end up piling up timber offcuts quicker than we can use them! As a school you may need timber, we need to clear our offcuts! All you need do is get in touch with us, the timber is free!We regularly have the following timber offcuts
Off cuts of Hardwood (Meranti, Idigbo and from time to time European Oak) Softwood offcuts (Unsorted Scandinavian Redwood) Rough sawn timber (i.e. 6″ x 3″/150mm x 75mm blocks), Planed all round timber, Off cuts of boardingWe want to hear from woodworking Teachers
We’d also love to hear your stories as woodworking Teachers regarding budgets for timber (i.e. Is there enough money for timber, do you struggle for timber supplies?), whether you currently need or want offcuts at this moment or not – again please get in touch and we can pass your comments over to the BWF (British Woodworking Federation) and hopefully encourage them to roll the scheme out across the UK. Please send us your comments using the form below.Read the original blog posts that got this started!
